Greenfield House

Designed as a retirement haven for a diasporan couple returning to Ghana after three decades abroad, this project nestled in a coastal shrubland greenfield on the outskirts of Greater Accra harmoniously blends tradition and modernity. Inspired by the concept of the Ghanaian compound house, the residence features a contemporary twist with public and private spaces arranged around a central courtyard in a clean, square layout. This thoughtful design not only caters to the retirees' needs but also serves as a welcoming space for their overseas-based children and grandchildren. Emphasizing cross ventilation for natural cooling, the house boasts spacious facade openings and breezeways that encircle the core structure, offering shaded refuge from the tropical sun through cleverly designed concrete breeze blocks. This architectural gem stands as a testament to cultural heritage and functional elegance, symbolizing a tranquil retreat where memories can be cherished for generations to come.

In construction, Summer 2021.
